My Hair Transplant

Many of the techniques involved in hair transplant procedures have produced so dramatically that people are choosing to do them with greater frequency. Fortunately for many, the very apparent hair plugs of yesteryear are not as readily obvious today. Not everyone understands this procedure, even today, with all the improvements that have transpired.

Men over the age of 50 in the United States are afflicted by baldness on a massive level and it is approximated that 50 percent of American men have hair loss. One alternative men decide to try to deal with their hair loss is the option of shaving their heads entirely. Others take the exact opposite route and have hair transplant surgery.

It is true that some men simply accept their hair loss but these men are completely out of sync with the rest of the world.

Many people do not understand the significance or permanence of having a surgical procedure. For the individual that is planning one of these treatments, they should understand that they will change the look of their head forever and they will also require many surgical treatments to get the desired look. This is why you should never accept any doctor’s offer to do a few hair grafts and see how you like it before doing a full hair transplant surgery because once you start, you are committed.

A typical hair transplant surgery is very easy on the patient, but this does not mean that they should immediately jump into their old active lifestyle without rest. Many people feel this way because it was not bone or muscle being operated on, but rather their scalp. The numerous amounts of tiny wounds you’ll have after the procedure will need to be protected.

Every patient considering hair transplant surgery should be aware that it is a procedure that will take a long time to complete – up to one or two years.

Many people choose to undergo mega-sessions – a procedure in which thousands of grafts are added in one sitting. However, the length of these sessions is often grueling and requires commitment.

In addition to hair transplant surgery, there are other procedures it may have to be combined with so if you do not have enough hair, you cannot undergo the procedure. There are other surgeries that can help produce a similar result that can be used in conjunction. Most patients agree that these additional procedures are the cause of additional pain.

All the grafts may not survive following hair transplant surgery. Hopefully, only a few will be lost and this will still make the result a desirable one. The reality is that often grafts do not survive despite all the effort involved.

This may be actually less than you would expect. If you die at age 70 after having the procedure done for 40 years, then your average cost for the treatment would be 25 dollars per month, or 300 per year.

Many “low cost” treatments for hair loss cost much more money than per month. The surgery would be the cheaper route in the long run.
